How It Works

IP Awards Assessment Process

IP Awards recognise excellence across three award groups: Creativity, Innovation, and IP Professionals. Our process is designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and independent evaluation that celebrates outstanding individuals, organisations, and initiatives within the intellectual property ecosystem.

01

Stage 1

Open Nominations

Nominations are submitted by the public across the various award categories within the three award groups. During this phase, you are invited to nominate deserving candidates whose achievements align with the criteria for their respective categories.

In addition, nominations are accepted for the IP Hall of Fame honorary awards. These nominations are used solely to identify distinguished individuals and initiatives for special recognition and do not undergo the standard assessment process.

02

Stage 2

Eligibility Screening

All nominations undergo an internal review to verify eligibility and ensure that submissions have been entered into the appropriate award categories. Only valid nominations proceed to the assessment stage.

03

Stage 3

Valiant Voices Review & Shortlisting

Eligible nominations are submitted to an independent assessment committee known as the Valiant Voices, comprising three respected industry representatives for each award group. They independently and collectively evaluate nominations and determine the shortlist for each category.

Independent Verification

For the IP Professionals Awards, shortlisted candidates will undergo an additional verification process to validate credentials, confirm achievements, and request supporting portfolio materials where applicable. The resulting verification reports and supporting documentation are provided to the judges to inform the final assessment.

05

Stage 5

Judges' Evaluation & Selection of Winners

Shortlisted candidates are submitted to a panel of three independent judges for each award group. Judges assess nominees individually against the same criteria used during shortlisting. Following their independent evaluations, the judges meet to review scores, discuss the strengths of each shortlisted candidate, and select the winners in each award category.

Ensuring Integrity & Independence

The IP Awards assessment framework is built on principles of fairness, transparency, and independent evaluation. The multi-stage process — combining public nominations, expert review, independent verification, and judicial deliberation — ensures that all award recipients are selected on merit and demonstrated excellence.
